“I can highly recommend Alvin as a personal trainer. Alvin has been my trainer for over 5 years and takes an overall approach that mixes resistance, aerobics and nutrition. He makes sure he understands your goals and works with you to achieve them over time at a rate that is appropriate for your fitness level and age.
Alvin’s advanced education in sports medicine and his ongoing professional education clearly shows in his work. He has a gift and knows the human musculoskeletal structure extremely well and rigidly enforces proper form with small tweaks to avoid injuries and pain.
As an example, I have a partially torn rotator cuff that used to cause a lot of neck pain. With Alvin’s guidance I was able to strengthen the surrounding muscles and utilize correct form during exercises and the pain went away. I was able to avoid surgery. Alvin also truly cares about his clients and I can highly recommend him.”

“Alvin has been my personal trainer for the past 5 years. After a surgical repair of a torn ACL, I was looking for a personal trainer to help strengthen my knee. I feel very fortunate to have met Alvin and have continued weekly sessions well beyond my initial ACL injury.
Alvin is extremely conscientious of the needs of his clients. He creatively tailors the workout sessions to reflect his client’s long and short term goals. He focuses on form constantly to make sure you get the most out of your workout without injury.
For me having a personal trainer has been a game changer.”

“I have known Alvin for ten years and wish I could say that he trained me for every one of those ten years. It’s more like eight, and those two lost years are entirely my fault. I’m beyond grateful to have found him again in 2018 and to be working with him again ever since.
I only started strength training when I was in my mid-fifties, so when I met Alvin I was a relative newcomer to gym workouts and weights. How lucky was I to meet a trainer as deeply familiar with the science of physical training as Alvin! This is a professional who knows his craft and works hard to stay current. This is professional who takes the time to write organized and creative training programs tailored to me, and who can as well throw that program out the window and improvise another equally as good on the spot if I show up limited in some way that day.
Alvin’s attention to form and detail is unique. He ensures that I am deriving the maximum benefit out of each workout element, and likewise inquires regularly to ensure that I’m not experiencing any discomfort. He has trained me so well that I say I can actually hear his voice in my head before starting to move myself or the weight.
A Type A, I want to meet his standards when I work out. In all of the time I have worked with Alvin I have never once injured myself. I cannot say the same about other trainers with whom I have worked. I am also a fan of Alvin’s interpersonal style. He’s reserved, focused and respectful, and has a wry sense of humor. I don’t go to the gym to socialize but to work, and Alvin’s approach keeps me on motivated and focused.
I trust him implicitly as a professional and appreciate him for the thoughtful, caring and decent human being he is. My hope is that Alvin remains a part of my health routine for as along as I can get to the gym. There’s no one better.”

“I love working with Alvin! He’s been training me for 5 years. He can be quiet but he’s friendly and attentive to you as his client. He’s knowledgeable on the body’s physiology and for a woman focuses on strengthening your core and hips, which has helped with my lower back pain I can get.
Each time he checks on your well being before beginning training. He asks how your last session was in case things need to be altered. He pushes you as hard as you want. I’ve been weight training for roughly 25 years but now that I began playing tennis in mid-life, weight training has taken on a new meaning.
Alvin brings a knowledge base to my sessions where I learn certain exercises that help with my game while reaching my overall goal of muscle definition and toning. Lifting heavier weights has helped keep me in great shape, keeps my figure tone and gives me the strength and endurance to play my matches and keep up with my 3 active boys."
“I have been working with Alvin for more than ten years. His strength-building routines have changed my body from skinny-fat to healthy strong.
The best part is I feel stronger and more confident mentally. I am never in a rut and Alvin adjusts the routines based on my needs.
Alvin’s total body approach to strength-building gives me stability for everyday tasks, energy to take on the world, and nice arms.”

“I have very much enjoyed my training sessions with Alvin He. I was nervous about starting a training regimen because of some previous injuries, but knew I needed to do more work to recover.
Alvin is very knowledgeable and designed an exercise routine for me that kept me safe and injury-free, but which was challenging. And he changes the routine, so that it stays interesting, while continuing to focus on the areas where I need strengthening.
He is very receptive to feedback and I can tell he thinks about what I tell him and designs our routines around the feedback as well as the progress we observe. He is very easy to talk to, and commanding, without being aggressive or pushy. I would recommend Alvin highly as a knowledgeable and effective personal trainer.”

“People considering a trainer wonder what qualities make a good trainer and what characteristics they should look for in hiring one. Over the years while living in several different states and one other country I have had an opportunity to employ a few trainers, male and female, and I feel uniquely able to answer that question.
I joined my current club, with my husband, after a move to Virginia from California. Soon after the move I required surgery but I set my sights on recovery and getting back to a fitness routine as soon as possible. I asked several people for trainer recommendations at the club and the majority of the members that I asked responded with Alvin’s name. I set up my first training with Alvin and two years later I have not been disappointed.
First, Alvin’s knowledge of anatomy and physiology has never failed to impress me. He is a certified trainer and when injuries and mishaps occur he can adroitly switch routines due to his expansive knowledge of the body. He will then communicate these technical aspects and the implications on the body, which I greatly appreciate.
Alvin’s passion for fitness is apparent, he definitely keeps up to date with the latest fitness and health trends and he himself “walks the walk, and talks the talk.”
Exposing your biggest flaws to a personal trainer can be uncomfortable but Alvin takes away that worry. He takes his job as a trainer seriously knowing he is partnering with you to guide you towards achieving your fitness goals with honest assessment and patience.
I look forward to every training session with Alvin. In my opinion, Alvin is one of the best personal trainers I have had."

“Alvin is an outstanding personal trainer. He is patient, knowledgeable, and listens to his clients. He is focused on teaching proper form to reduce the risk of injury while maximizing strength and overall health.
I have had knee pain my entire adult life. I have been to several doctors regarding my knee pain and the only advice they provided were pamphlets showing “helpful exercises”.
During my second session with Alvin, he identified my knee pain as a result of weakness in my hip. He developed stretching, strength training, and movement exercises designed to address the hip, and as a result my knee pain is virtually non-existent. He also identified other areas to target for strength training and general movement.
Since working with Alvin, I have become more flexible, stronger, and have better posture. Alvin makes personal training what it should be – about the person he is training. Each exercise plan based on his client’s needs and goals.'

I would award Alvin He a full five-star rating for helping me to regain strength, mobility, and balance following my knee surgery four years ago. His advanced training in exercise physiology is evident in the programs that he tailors for my specific needs, identifying options to train each muscle group that are suitable for someone at my stage in life (65+) who plans to stay active in the endurance activities I enjoy -- swimming, rowing, and biking -- for as long as I can. A bonus in working with Alvin has been my increase in functional fitness that helps me tackle everyday activities with more energy.
